    Hello !
Wonderfull blog for electrical engineer and for electricians !
I have a question : Where I can get gratis download soft for Electrical Cad 2004 ?
    Thanks!

I think in the operation of transformer is severly depend upon the loading of trasformer in distribution system as in msximium loading efficiency of distribution trasformer decreses which is a big  reason for distribution loss parallel operation of trasformer is good solution for that.

“Power factor is that of the load & not of the alternator” is right. In an islanded situation (standalone generation system) , the alternator must supply power at a power level and a power factor dependant on the load. The alternator can’t do anything else. Power factor correction in this instance will improve the load power factor (and hence reduce alternator ine current).

If however the alternator is operated in parallel with the grid, power factor of the alternator can be changed by changing alternator excitation (assuming it is a synchronous alternator).

As power factor is ratio of active power to apparant power(KW/KVA) AND active power & reactive component is contolled by alternator feed fuel system and excitation control, hence by controlling these two we can control power factor of load and alternator.

Power factor is that of the load & not of the alternator.Therfore there is no question to improve the pf of the altertnator. Off course the power factor at which the alternator is feeding the load can be improved by reducing the RMVA loading of the alternator.

such lame understanding of electrical engineering principles, if not, utterly stupid….

Get the power consumption in KW which shld be on the pump required, the current can be calculated from there.

Hello wat do u mean find cables do u mean the sizes or availability?

    Guys…that are two different things.

    example,

Generator set with 0.8 power factor mean:

alternator unit will be in kVA with engine unit will be in kW with factor 0.8 (not the alternator)

at the load side, power factor is kW/kVA which is a composite of power factor

the composite power factor at the load side are possible to be corrected but generator (set) power factor cannot be corrected unless by changing the engine capacity or alternator capacity.

hope the above could helps you

Hello, tree-phase protection at the building entrance (using heavy discharge tubes made by TTI Puerto Rico) has solved most problems in Venezuela. However there is a ever growing problem present, probably world-wide. The problem is as follows:

Most computer users buy “stabilyzers” using MOV type surge protectors. These are single-phase devices and see what the happens doring a lighning storm: when surge arrives, the sinle phase MOV will cut the overvoltage surge to a save level for the computer it is ment to protect. But now the catastrophic effect is because the power clippling at one phase rises very dangerously spikes at athe other two phases at the whole building. I have seen a chane of PC failures that did not have MOV protection.

This effect should be communidated to all computer-users !

The real solution is really a building-entrance protection, while the individual MOV protection at the consumer load is too danderous !

Please comment your experience ! Rehards Hans Stauffer, Caracas Venezuela (stauffer@cantv.net)
