In October 2013, only one topic remained without answer. So we also picked topics with no answers from July, August and September 2013. Maybe you could help the members to solve their problem.

Don't forget: it takes 5 minutes to do it and the person asking may become the one to answer YOUR questions in the future!

1. How to build a device to detect a faulty transformer?

2. I recently came across a very old, very strange electric motor, can you help me?

3. How to design a Grid-Tied PV

4. How to calculate HT fuse ratings for a single phase PT?

Thanks in advance for your active contribution to our community.

    Capacitor-Start (CS) Motors

A capacitor is a passive two-terminal electrical component used to store energy in an electric field. A capacitor consists of at least two electrical conductors separated by a dielectric (insulator). What are the different types?

This article is a basic explanation on Capacitor-Start (CS) Motors. Did it help you anyway?

    Static Transfer Switch

Static transfer switches (STS) are such electrical devices which are used for very fast switching between electrical power sources. They perform instantaneous switching operations and thus supply immediate power to the load.

This is the 8th part of Nasir’s series of tutorial about Transfer switches (their types and usage). Does this detailed knowledge helps?

Ferro resonance occurrence in power transformer

Ferro resonance can be described in simple terms as a disturbance caused by high voltage level leading to overvoltage and also due to distortion of overcurrent. The presence of ferro resonance may result in the occurrence of certain oscillatory processes which may damage the electrical power system.

There are many solutions which can decrease ferro resonance process to take place. All explanations are in the article.
