The high cost has been the main obstacle in the popularity of CFL bulbs. It costs about four times as much as traditional bulbs. While dimmer switches can set an ambiance and save you money on your energy bill with old incandescent light bulbs, it is not recommended that you use them with CFL bulbs as it can shorten the life of the bulb.

Fluorescent tubes give off a lot less heat than other types of  lights therefore meaning that in hot climates or hot weather you will not get as hot just from the light being turned on. When LED lighting becomes more commonly available, the light bulbs will look even stranger than the coiled tubes of the compact fluorescents.

LED light offers many advantages and over time these will increase as the cost of manufacturing such items come down. These types of lights are capable of producing a wide variety of colored lighting much more efficiently compared to traditional lighting sources. Unlike pretty much all lighting alternatives, LED Lights contain no mercury or any other hazardous materials or chemicals.
