how tansformers are paralleled and why?
2011/02/24 at 6:08 am #11843adminKeymasterinorder to meet the increased demand with out interruption of supply we need to connect the transformers in parallel. such that the capacity of system increases

Hello, I am posting an English translation (by Google) so that everyone will understand:
To connect in parallel two or more transformers are required:
1 – That the impedance of the transformer is equal
2 – That the transformer voltage is equal
3 – That the sequence is equal
4 – That the bars or coductores joining the side of processors have the same impedance.
By placing transformers in parallel to the short circuit current laid out parallel processors will be higher, if example connect in parallel two 500 KVA transformers with output at 480 volts and an impedance of 5% of the maximum current short circuit of a transformer is 12 kA short circuit current of the two transformers is 24 kA.
By placing in parallel two transformmadores the iron and copper losses be the sum of each transformer.
The consumption of the load remains unchanged, if the load requires 400 kva will be same 400 kva with ransformers than two, but lost in the iron will double.

2011/04/23 at 6:11 am #12003adminKeymasterParrallel working of power transformer having advantage as:
1- To minimized the load loss in transformer during pike time (according to load graphic)
2- Increasing the reliability and effeciency of power system
3- keep the permissible temperature rise in top oil & winding under safety margin
4- low investement capital by comparing with one transformer (in same capacity of two)
in contrary also having:
1- Increasing the no load loss in transformer during off- pike time
2- Increasing the short circuit current, becuase the total impedence is divided by two
Thus the parrallel operation of power transformer need the flexible monitoring by operators that working in Dispatching Control Center according two the load graphic of local load.
2011/04/23 at 5:22 pm #12008ujjwalroyParticipantwhy power transformers are used in trnsmission line? why distribution trans. not used?
2011/04/24 at 3:46 pm #12009erickenchParticipantTransformers wil operate satisfactorily provided they have:
1) the same ratio of transformation
2) the same voltage ratings
3) approximately the same regulation

Distribution tarnsformers are used at the customer interface i.e. spot networks.

Dear Mr. Jatin ;
Certainly, there ia a lot of advantages that were been explained before, we use this solution for exp. if a factory hase 1 transformer 1000 kVA that's suitable for the loads, and there's a new extention where the total of loads needs more than 1000 kVA, we have 2 solution, chang the actual transformer or add another one in parallel where the conditions were been mentioned before. But the most important point to know that after the installation of the 2nd transformer, the maximum short circuit current on the basbar will be doubled, that means we should re-view the value of the breaking capacities of installed circuit breakers if are suitable to the new valur of short circuit cureent or not, if not the circuit breakers should be changed.
Regards.
