In this monthly article, you can find a recall of  last weeks main information discussed in the community: articles, debate of the month, and also your discussions in the forum.

This month let’s talk about your usage (or not) of pre-wired components for electrical control panels, about some topics with no answers in the forum and let’s discover a member of our community that you may know because of his many participations in the forum: jatin333.

Your usage of pre-wired components for electrical control panels

In May, the debate of the month was a question we asked you about pre-wired components for electrical control panels. It is also related to an article recently published, called “panel builders are all cheaters?“, which you may have missed.

When we say “pre-wired components”, we mean all kind of accessories used to  connect quicker the power and/or control wires between the devices inside the control panel, especially when there are many motor starters involved (accessories for quick association & connection between motor circuit-breaker & contactor for example … ).

Some of you may have already answered this debate, but for those who have not participated yet here is our survey:

For electrical control panels, are you using (or specifying) pre-wired components …

    … for POWER connections?
    •  Yes
    •  No, I don’t know these components
    •  No, existing products are not practical
    •  No, existing products are not adapted to my control panels’ architecture
    •  No, existing products are not reliable
    •  No, they are not useful for me
    •  No, they are too expensive
    •  No, they are not available at my distributor

    for CONTROL connections?
    •  Yes
    •  No, I don’t know these components
    •  No, existing products are not practical
    •  No, existing products are not adapted to my control panels’ architecture
    •  No, existing products are not reliable
    •  No, they are not useful for me
    •  No, they are too expensive
    •  No, they are not available at my distributor

Thank you for your participation, we will give you the first results of this survey soon. If you are interested in this subject you can continue the debate making a comment on the blog or in the forum creating a new topic.

    Contribute to the forum!

Around 30 new topics posted this month in the forum! We are glad you find in this community a place to start debates, to seek answers or to find some help. This month again a lot of subjects have been evoked in the forum and a lot of questions have been resolved, however some topics still stay with no answer. Please try to help their authors if you can, maybe they will answer YOUR questions tomorrow!!

Mahesh asked a question about maintaining positive pressure into an oil filled transformer. Someone here is a specialist?

Two guests, Sajid Toseef and Ritu have no inspiration for their final year project in electrical engineering and are asking for some ideas.

Rafi is a trainee engineer and he has a lot of questions about panel connections and calculations.

Shah would like to know how he could find apparent power and reactive power,  and Ikram Shehzad asks three questions: one about diversity factor , another about the settings of air circuit breakers and vaccum circuit breaker and a last about voltage monitoring module.

You can also participate in the short survey and discussions about load shedding and getting the possibility to download a free copy of the Load-Shedding guide (17 pages).

    Focus on a member

This month I will introduce you to one of our Indian members : Jatin Patel aka jatin333.

Jatin comes from the State of Gujarat in western India. There he works as an electrical maintenance technical executive in a company. He has got a B.E of electrical engineering. Jatin333 is a member of the community since 2010/10/31, and is now one of our top posters in the forum: 21 participations and started a lot of topics.

By the way, his post about servo motor has no answer yet even though he has  posted several times, so if you have a few minutes and a solution to suggest, please go ahead!
