Participant“Wasting our watts. We don’t need new drilling or new power plants. We need to get efficient”
I advise you to read this paper about America’s Untapped Energy Resource: Boosting Efficiency
“A lot of simple answers are just sitting around waiting for us to execute”. Tom Reddoch, Electric Power Research Institute – EPRI.
This article is giving a good overview of the American situation: the stake is to get “the miracle juice” of what is called “energy efficiency” …. Two basic ways for that: using more efficient machinery & using machinery more efficiently.

Participantsaving watts cannot be achieved by campaign or propaganda but only by legislation penalising over consumption. For each category of building(home, shop, office etc)maximum kwh/m2 should be defined first.

GuestEnergy efficiency is important, but efficiency won’t solve our growing energy needs. Nuclear power plants will.

Participantregardless what kind of power plant is needed (either nuclear or anything else), I agree with salvia, that energy efficiency is important, but will not be enough to supply our needs.
understanding from few articles that I read, that our energy demand will doubled in 2020, while as the energy efficiency that was proposed by some manufactured by today is only able to save energy by 20-30% max.
so yes, efficiency is greatly needed, but the answer of providing a safe and sufficient powerplant is also need to be implemented.

I am sorry! You are wrong! “Energy Efficiency” will surely solve our problems. Keeping on adding generation capacity, without pating attention to energy savings is like filling a “leaking bucket”.

KeymasterThere is probably not one single solution to the problem. See the interesting paper at the address below:

ParticipantI don’t agree with you. We need more plants, because our demand is rising day by day.
