Hi, I am at odds to decide how to mathematically model Siemens 46.17 TL11 124/19-15 generator. It has 4 poles, laminated core, slotted rotor, damper windings, Xd is very similar to Xq, not much air gap.

    Reasons for salient pole:

    • For generator of this size, speed and application, with 4-poles and gearbox, it’s likely to be a salient pole machine
    • Laminated core and damper windings

     Reasons for round rotor:

    • The rotor is slotted
    • Xd value is similar to to Xq
    • There’s not much air gap between the damper windings

This rotor seems to be a kind of hybrid between salient pole and round rotor. I have to decide though how to model it ie either salient pole or round rotor.

What do you think, is it (mostly) salient pole or (mostly) round rotor?

    Many thanks, Marina.
