Hi, I am at odds to decide how to mathematically model Siemens 46.17 TL11 124/19-15 generator. It has 4 poles, laminated core, slotted rotor, damper windings, Xd is very similar to Xq, not much air gap.
Reasons for salient pole:
For generator of this size, speed and application, with 4-poles and gearbox, it’s likely to be a salient pole machine
Laminated core and damper windings
Reasons for round rotor:
The rotor is slotted
Xd value is similar to to Xq
There’s not much air gap between the damper windings
This rotor seems to be a kind of hybrid between salient pole and round rotor. I have to decide though how to model it ie either salient pole or round rotor.
What do you think, is it (mostly) salient pole or (mostly) round rotor?
