If generator is under-exited will the power factor be leading or lagging? Is this a desirable condition for the generator?
Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks
The power factor almost lagging.
In most of the cases the exciter for the generator are use the inductive drives which has the lagging power factor ,since in addition the pf of the generator becomes lagging.
Lagging power factor.
when generator is under exited i.e. it will absorb reactive power from the system i.e. it acts as an inductor so the power factor is lagging..
