I am presently connected with the local utility here in our place and as you know, belonging to a third world country where the the main consideration is just to electrify the whole community, the prevailing mindset particularly with the politicians to provide electricity to as many of their constituents as possible without regard to technical consideration. End results? of course, just as you mentioned.
But there is actually hope coming… with the government realizing that subsidizing the cost of electricity has crunch out so much of the resources best provided for basic services. The government is in the transition of deregulating the electricity with the end result that electrical engineers like us get to practice what we have been taught in our 5 year electrical engineering course…
