This security control relay Wieland Electric consumes less energy than a standard equivalent component. Samos PRO control relay has a CPU and can manage 96 safety inputs and 48 safety outputs.

Ignored for a long time, the electricity consumption of equipments and panel automation has begun to interest manufacturers and some contractors. Until now, the few Watts lost in thermal heating by a circuit breaker or an automat had been going almost unnoticed in a world without energy balance.

Today, manufacturers attitudes are changing and their R&D teams are working on this subject. The low-energy impact intrinsic to the equipment sometimes also becomes a sales argument. (more…)

No switches in this tower, but an automatic lighting management.

In Dijon (Côte d’Or, France), the Elithis Tower is the outcome of strong reflections about energy performance and strategic thinking. Operational for 2 years, this ten-storey and 5000m² office building is the showcase of Elithis Ingénierie’s (100 people) expertise. The purpose: to reduce as far as possible the overall energy consumption of the building (heating, cooling, ventilation, lighting). In fact, when you take into account its photovoltaic power production (560m² of panels on the roof) the building has, today, an overall consumption of 0kWh/m²/year for the previously mentioned usage!

Introduction of Electrical energy efficiency in Low-Voltage electrical installations

Draft for a new IEC standard
At an hour when advices for energy efficiency are to be written, the challenge is to aim at completed general installations rules for electrical installations of buildings, in the way to obtain the highest possible service for the lowest energy consumption. This shall be true in new and also in existing buildings.
