Hi and welcome, don’t hesitate to say a few more words about yourself …

As already said earlier in this topic, to obtain the access codes to this library, it is necessary for you to share at least one of your own electrical calculation tool (as other members already did by sharing the list of tools that you can see in the sharing page).

This is a mutually benefiting effort of ours so that members can contribute their tools and then access tools that other members have submitted.

If you have a tool send it to us by mail, we will then check and send you the password to access the tools.

ps: if you sent it recently, please give us a bit of time to check and share …

    Regards,

    Laurent

    Hi all,

this is to inform you that after our Newsletter n°36  (Special edition related to Electrical Software),

I have received 18 new tools !!! shared by some of you    (12 in english, 3=Spanish, 2=Romanian, 1=french)

==> I take benefit to thank the 18 new community members who shared these tools !

I have added these new tools on the electrical calculation tools sharing page.

As already explained, to get access to all these shared tools, you should first share one of your tools with the community (send your tool to me by mail , I will add it on the sharing page and send you access codes)

    regards

    Laurent

    @ Steve

Thank you Steve, you have expounded an interesting safety solution for maintenance operators.

Could you tell us more about this system?

Is it only on incomers? (It seems complicated on feeders in low voltage)

I just wanted to announce, in case you are not already aware, that the PowerFacAging calculator is now on-line!
You can use it just right here

Don’t hesitate to send us your feedback after testing it, here in this topic !

Interesting to see this trend to require remote racking for main LV switchboards!

And you mean that remote racking is required not only for ACBs, but also for MCCBs? Down to which minimum rating, I wonder? And for what type of applications?

What about the MCC switchboards? Any similar evolutions you see in specifications?

    @ Raouf Kahla

Regarding the elimination of the risk by design, can you give us more details about the requirements in the Oil&Gas application ?

And what do you mean when you say “isolation and mechanical interlock is required and has to be well engineered” ?

    @ Laribee Adams

When you say that the safety is high on these panels, which safety functions does it provide:
    * internal arc resistant?
    * closed door operation?
    * IP is maintained when the drawer is removed?

What do you expect in term of safety in your cement applications?

Remote operation: In which applications do you have these requirements? When you say for all functional units, do you mean for incomers and all feeders? How often do you get these requirements?

You should rather ask this kind of question in our “general discussions” forum

    Hi,

I have now added on the sharing page the tools I received from some of you  (wael …). In fact, we were very late in updating this sharing area because as mentioned in our newsletter in January, one of our main moderator has moved to other activities.

All members who have shared some of their tools should now have received by mail the access codes to access all the shared tools.

    Best regards

We have now chosen a name for this project: PowerFacAging calculator.

    Why this name?

Well, “PowerFac” stands for … Power Factor of course !

With “Aging” at the end because to make a fair estimation of the savings, it is important to look at the complete life cycle of the capacitor banks and their real efficiency to compensate :

    * capacitors are a bit like batteries, charging and discharging them makes them progressively less efficient, they are getting older and at some moment might not be able to compensate properly anymore

    * the electrical installation itself will most probably evolve along the time (new loads added …), making the existing capacitor bank no more adapted to the new installation requirements, if it is not upgraded

To keep you posted with this project, below is a first idea of the typical result which we want the tool to provide:
    * a clear view of the yearly cost savings obtained when installing PFC
    * an estimation of investment cost and payback time (not yet implemented here)
    * and also an idea of how these cost savings will evolve during installation time

==> please tell us what you think about it
