Facts & figures about CO2 emission

Generally, the car manufacturers give the “CO2 emission” in g/km.
Other interesting figures to know is the quantity of CO2 produced per litre of fuel:
– for diesel:        2.62 kg/litre
– for gasoline:    2.39 kg/litre.

fluorescent bulbs

In the USA, if each house swapped three 60W bulbs for (CFL) also called Compact Fluorescent Lamps  or fluorescent bulbs using one quarter the energy (15W), and they were used six hours per day, the saving of CO2 emission would be equivalent to putting 3,500,000 cars off the road!

“Wasting our watts. We don’t need new drilling or new power plants. We need to get efficient”

I advise you to read this paper about America’s Untapped Energy Resource: Boosting Efficiency

“A lot of simple answers are just sitting around waiting for us to execute”. Tom Reddoch, Electric Power Research Institute – EPRI.

This article is giving a good overview of the American situation: the stake is to get “the miracle juice” of what is called “energy efficiency” …. Two basic ways for that: using more efficient machinery & using machinery more efficiently.
